Walking Holidays

Exmoor is one of the best places in the UK to have a walking holiday. The sheer variety of landscape, from sea cliffs with spectacular views across to Wales, heather clad moors and ancient rainforest, Exmoor has it all! If you are consdering a walking holiday in England then Exmoor could well be the perfect destination with The Hayloft a great base for your expeditions. There are various organisations that can help you with routes and we have listed some of them below.

Don't forget - the weather on Exmoor can change dramatically in a very short space of time. Make sure you are wearing the right clothing and carrying a rucksack with extra clothes. Always take a map and compass!

We are pleased to say (June 2o14) that the famous Coleridge Way has now been extended from Porlock to Lynmouth and now passes by just across the valley from us. It now provides a lovely (but long!) circular day walk using both the Coleridge Way and The South Coast Footpath

BBC Lorna Doone walk - just round the corner from The Hayloft - absolutely beautiful!

Tarr Steps to Withypool and back - a great walk with either Tarr Farm in or The Royal Oak at Withypool as a halfway pit stop!

Valley of the Rocks - Lynton - look out for wild goats!!

Watersmeet to Foreland Point - TOUGH!!! - you will need a long bath afterwards to recover - but worth it for the amazing East Lyn river gorge

And the ultmate challenge - the South West Coast path. The section nearest The Hayloft runs past Culbone Church, only accessible by foot and the smallest fully functioning church in England!

But the best thing of all is that you can literally walk out of The Hayloft and walk in any direction and you will be immediately in the emptiest, most unspoilt countryside this country has to offer - enjoy it!
